Cataclysm - das neue wow addon?

auf mehreren webseiten gab es nun hinweise das blizzard auf der blizzcon das nächste addon ankündigen wird...ist im grunde die einzige möglichkeit dieses Jahr (E3 waren sie nicht und World Wide Invitational is dieses jahr nicht)

es gibt schon erste Hinweise darauf das es auf die verheerten Inseln (Maelstrom) und in den Emerald Dream geht^^

Wird das nächste Blizzard-Spiel Cataclysm heißen? Jüngste Aktion des kalifornischen Studios und Publishers deuten darauf hin. Blizzard hat sich bei der US-amerikanischen Behöre für Patentanmeldungen und Markenschutz die Rechte an dem Namen Catacylsm - zu deutsch »Katastrophe« - in den folgenden Kategorien gesichert: Online-Unterhaltungsdienste, Computer- und Videospiele, Printartikel zu Computerspielen.

Recherchen in der WoW-Geschichte scheinen auch auf ein drittes Addon hinzudeuten. So hält wowwiki.com einen Eintrag zu The Great Sundering bereit. Dieses weltverändernde Ereignis, auch einfach als Sundering oder eben Cataclysm bekannt, fand 10.000 Jahre vor den aktuellen Ereignissen statt und markiert die Zerstörung des Brunnens der Ewigkeit (Well of Eternity). Die dabei freigesetzten Energien zerteilten den bis dahin zusammenhängenden Kontinent Azeroth in mehrere Bruchstücke, die heute als Kalimdor, Nordend und die östlichen Königreiche bekannt sind. Die Überreste des Brunnens dagegen verwandelten sich in den Mahlstrom (Maelstrom).

Dazu würden auch die Beobachtungen eines Users der Szenewebseite mmo-champion.com passen. Dieser entdeckte am 26. Juni einen Test-Server namens »Maelstrom Test 3« in der Serverliste. Blizzard ließ den Eintrag kurz darauf wieder entfernen.

VideoGamer held an interview with World of Warcraft Game Director Tom Chilton as a follow up to their Leipzig coverage. In this interview Tom Chilton confirms their plan for a yearly WoW expansion stands correct. The South Seas, the Maelstrom and the Emerald Dream, (and can I say Gilneas hinted?) have pop into the radar through Chilton’s own lips. So ... a yearly expansion (check) ... the south seas (check). TC: No I don’t think it has to be anywhere completely foreign yet. There are parts of the map that we have left ambiguous and unexplored. There are parts of Eastern Kingdoms and Azeroth that haven’t been filled out yet. Out there in the South Seas there are islands, there’s out where the Maelstrom is.

There’s still quite a bit of land mass. We keep referring to the Emerald Dream, which is maybe not exactly in Azeroth, but is sort of tied to it in some way or another. But there are definitely places in Azeroth itself that are close to home that haven’t been filled out yet, so there’s more room for that sort of thing.



We recently unearthed a new trademark by Blizzard that might or not tie-in with the theme of a Maelstrom and South Seas expansion.

We interviewed Chris Metzen and Micky Neilson last February, where they said there were plans for Gilneas, and talked about the upcoming World of Warcraft: Stormrage book which hits bookstores on February 2010. It deals with the Nightmare and the Emerald Dream.

The stars are aligning. (sits in yoga-position and hums).

wie es aussieht werden also Azshara, Malfurion und Ysera verheizt (vllt auch Gul'dan)

und in den höhlen der zeit kann man ja auch noch Lord Xavius und Hakkar den Hundemeister killen
