As if last weeks flu epidemic wasnt enough, weve also had an outbreak of H1N1 swine flu at the office and several people are down for the count. We didnt have the sprint presentation today as planned, well have it next Friday when things are (hopefully) back to normal. Since we were depending on the meeting for todays update, this is not shaping up to be one of our better activity reports. Nevertheless, we have to work with what were given and there are a few more things about our upcoming patch we can share with you today:
Alignment changes are going in. Enough with killing other players, this wont improve your alignment anymore. The first step in these alignment changes is the introduction of Chaos Churches where players can repent their negative alignment away. These are located in the Chaos cities. The next step in this process will be to look at offering incentives for goodness. There will be a spotlight on this soon.

The fishing boats we spoke of in previous updates are actually modifications to current ships that give them fishing capabilities. The safety level of the waters you fish in, as well as the type of ship you use have to do with the size of the rewards you might drag up from the sea bottom. New buffs are coming having to do with the products of the sea. Also, were making an effort to get protection against swimmers into this next patch, in the form of depth charge-like explosives. Its quite satisfying blowing them out of the water.
Stats will be added to meditation, and faster skill progression will be applied to all the skills that we didnt get last time, like crafting skills, melee skills, harvesting, swimming, etc. Weve also significantly increased the drop rate in books, scrolls, and attribute consumables.
An exploit regarding the Kraken will be hotfixed tomorrow.
As I mentioned earlier, next week we should have the results of the sprint presentation, so a lot more to talk about. Were sorry we couldnt have more for you today, but on the bright side nobody died.

Activity Report 11. Februar
More than half the development team is out with the flu this week and were doing the best we can to keep up with our milestones. As a result of this, and the fact that were two weeks into our current sprint, theres not a whole lot to talk about in this update. We also had a tv crew visit the studio today, which was pretty cool but it also disrupted our workflow for a little while.
Were currently working on our next patch which among other things contains the crafting skill gains which we werent able to include in the last patch. We didnt make it because the crafting skill gains involve new development and need more testing since they affect several systems. In the upcoming patch were also adding the fishing boats and were fixing the tower screams which are annoying indeed.
Were also working on getting stats in the meditation system. These will be added after this patch since they need more testing and balancing. These should add a new dimension to the meditation feature and were in a hurry to implement them, but we also want to get them right.
Darkfalls new information interface, a feature weve been working on for a long time, will come out next month. Weve briefly talked about this in previous activity reports, its a system which will give you a detailed information overview having to do with a great many activities like politics, clan activities, vendor information etc. Were planning to do a Spotlight soon on this new feature collection, where more information will be shared.
Work on the new GUI is progressing and the current functionality is being cloned to the new framework as a first implementation step. This is something that weve been working on for a long time, and is highly prioritized since were not happy with the current GUI functionality and performance. Its a huge task, and it takes time.
The events team is planning the next Darkfall event, one that has to do with the lore. There will be more information on this in an upcoming Spotlight. Were also approaching Darkfalls 2nd year anniversary and were working on something special for Darkfalls loyal players.
Implementation of our new website and a new forum layout and functionality is underway. This should improve the sites functionality by a lot. This time were taking a much more active role in the design and development of this website, rather than outsourcing it like we had done with the current website which we arent very happy with.
Our next sprint presentation happens next Friday where all the development teams get to present their work. We should have a lot more to talk about then.
